Soundless Slideshow

November 30, 2007

Put together, mostly for practice, a silent (video) slideshow composed of photos of Karin Baker in movement. I’d like to play around a bit more with pacing– I wanted the movement to speed up to the end, but I couldn’t get the clips to play for less than one second each. Also in compressing the movie file for YouTube, the picture quality degraded quite a bit, which is unfortunate– though I don’t see any way to remedy that problem without money.

And of course once I have an audio complement, it will be easier to convey a clear narrative. See slideshow below …

    Hey, girl.

There is a way to make the quality on youtube slightly better… how did you edit it? With Avid? Final Cut? iPhoto? Depending on that, you can export it at a very high quality instead of as a conveniently small file. Then, when you upload it to youtube, it will be remarkably better. Cool images. I think you can make them less than a second if you use Final Cut or Avid…

Let me know if you need any help: avv210@nyu.edu. But you’re doing a fabulous job on here!

Thanks Amy! I’d actually used iMovie, but maybe will try again in Final Cut instead … I’d like the pace to be faster, and I should definitely try the uploading tip you suggested. So nice of you to offer your advice, may take you up on it,
    Jackie
